Free online tools that run in your browser

What Mate.tools is

Mate.tools is a free library of 259 browser-based utilities for developers, creators, students and anyone with a small job to do: validating JSON, working out a profit margin, compressing a PDF, generating a favicon, converting a recipe measurement. They are grouped into 15 categories and available in 16 languages.

Some tools run entirely in your browser; others process what you enter on our server. Either way there is nothing to install, no account to create and no personal details to hand over. The site is free to use and is paid for by display advertising, which is how we keep every tool open to everyone.

Mate.tools is built and maintained by a small team of developers. You can read more about the project, check our privacy policy and terms of use, or get in touch. Building software? The same tools are available through our free JSON API and MCP server.

Yes. Every tool on the site is free to use with no hidden limits, no paywalls, and no mandatory sign-up. We are supported by a small number of non-intrusive display ads, and by users who share the site with friends.

No. You can use any tool immediately without registering, providing an email address, or giving personal information. Anything you generate stays on your device.

Most tools process your data entirely in your browser using JavaScript - nothing is uploaded. A small number of tools that require server-side processing (for example, certain file format conversions) upload your input temporarily and delete it within minutes. Each tool page explains what happens to your data.

Yes. The site is fully responsive and every tool works on phones and tablets. For tools that involve heavy file processing, a desktop browser is faster, but everything functions on mobile.

Click the "Suggest a Tool" button in the sidebar, or email us via the contact page. We review every suggestion and typically add 2-4 new tools each month based on user requests.

No - the website works identically whether or not you install the extension. The extensions (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) simply add a quick-launch icon in your browser toolbar for faster access to the tools you use most.
